The app carries its own help: open Data β Help and guides for step-by-step instructions, including how to export a file from each major card issuer. The answers below are the ones people ask before they install.
Email: support@fincleaner.app. Please don't attach statements or screenshots showing account numbers β we don't need them to help, and email is not a safe place for them.
CSV, TSV, OFX and QFX exports β the formats card issuers offer under names like "Download transactions", "Export activity" or "Download as spreadsheet". FinCleaner works out which column is which, how the dates are written and whether a number means money going out or coming back, then shows you what it found before saving anything.
Three ways, all of which you start: the Files picker from Data β Import a statement file; the share sheet from another app; or "Open With" on a downloaded file. FinCleaner keeps no folder of its own that anything can open, which is deliberate.
No, and it never will. FinCleaner reads files you download yourself, and never asks for your banking username or password. No app should.
The import screen shows what it worked out before anything is saved, and you can correct it there. After importing, any transaction can be edited, recategorized or excluded, and a correction can be turned into a rule so the next import gets it right. Your choices always outrank its guesses.
03/04 is the third of April in some countries and the fourth of March in others, and a statement file rarely says which it means. FinCleaner works it out from the file where it can β a 25 can only be a day β and where the file genuinely does not say, it reads the dates the way your region writes them. The import screen shows the format it chose, and you can pick a different one from the list before anything is saved.
If your file has a currency column, FinCleaner uses it. If it does not, the amounts are assumed to be in your own currency rather than US dollars. You can change the currency on a card at any time, and amounts are written the way your region writes them.
Yes. If a file covers dates you already have, FinCleaner recognizes the repeats and will not count them twice β while two genuinely separate coffees on the same day for the same amount both come through, because they really did both happen.
It cannot be recovered. Nothing capable of resetting it is stored anywhere, including by us β that is what makes the protection real. The only way forward is to delete the app and start again, which erases its data. If you exported a CSV beforehand, you can import that back.
Yes β Data β Passcode and Face ID β Change passcode. It takes effect immediately, and none of your data has to be rebuilt.
FinCleaner locks every time you switch away from it, so that the preview your iPhone shows when you flick between apps cannot give your transactions away β and neither can a phone you have handed to someone with the screen already on. Face ID or Touch ID makes getting back in quick.
The first three statement files are free, so you can see what the app finds before paying. A subscription lifts that limit, and changes nothing else: the insights, the trends, editing and export all work either way.
Nothing is removed, hidden or cut back. Every transaction and every insight stays exactly as it is β you simply cannot import new files until you renew.
No. The sample data is made up on your device, and you can delete it like any other import.
Subscriptions are handled by Apple, not by us: on your device, open Settings β your name β Subscriptions. Refunds are also Apple's to issue, through reportaproblem.apple.com.
FinCleaner is available in English and in French. It shows Australian and Canadian spelling in those countries, and Canadian French throughout β every screen, every finding and every help page. It follows whichever language your device is set to; there is no setting to change inside the app. Dates, amounts and number formats follow your device too, so a statement reads the way you would write it rather than the way the app was written.
FinCleaner works with VoiceOver, Voice Control and Dark Mode, and with larger text right up to the biggest accessibility sizes. Charts can be read aloud value by value, and every line and bar carries a shape as well as a color, so they can be told apart without relying on color. If anything is hard to use with assistive technology, please tell us β we treat that as a bug and would rather hear about it.
Everything stays on your device; see the Privacy Policy for exactly what that means and what the few exceptions are. You can export everything as CSV, delete any part of it, or erase it all from the Data screen.
Email support@fincleaner.app with your device model, your iOS version and what you expected to happen. If it concerns an import, the issuer name and file format help more than the file itself β please keep the file.
